Across Kenya, thousands of children lose both parents to illness, accidents, or abandonment: left without the one thing every child needs most: a family. Some are absorbed into already-stretched extended families. Others end up in institutions, or worse, on the streets. Stewards of Grace Ambassadors believes every orphaned child deserves not just survival, but belonging.
Our Orphan Care & Guardianship Programme goes beyond emergency relief to build lasting family structures around vulnerable children.
We serve children aged 0–18 who have lost one or both parents, children in guardianship of elderly relatives or widows already supported through our other programmes, and orphaned youth approaching adulthood who need a bridge into independent, dignified living.
SGA’s approach is intentionally family-centred rather than institution-centred. Wherever possible, we work to place children within extended family or vetted foster families rather than orphanages, because every child thrives best within a family structure, surrounded by belonging, not just walls. Our widow and elderly care networks often intersect here, as many guardians of orphaned children are grandparents or widowed relatives already within our community of care.
