Road Safety Advocacy Programme

Kenya loses thousands of lives to road accidents every year. Behind every statistic is a family torn apart, a community left grieving, a child growing up without a parent. Road crashes are not inevitable, they are preventable. And prevention starts with communities that know their rights, understand the risks, and hold institutions accountable. That is exactly what SGA’s Road Safety Advocacy Programme is designed to achieve.

What We Do

Our programme combines grassroots education with policy-level advocacy to shift both behaviour and systems around road safety in Kenya.

School-based road safety campaigns targeting children and young people
Civic education on road traffic laws, pedestrian rights, and road user responsibilities
Community forums for parents, boda boda operators, and matatu crews
First aid and emergency response training for communities along high-risk corridors
Engagement with NTSA, county governments, and transport authorities on road safety policies
Road safety messaging campaigns via churches, schools, and community networks

Who We Serve

We target communities along high-risk road corridors, schools near busy roads, boda boda and matatu operators, and county government officials responsible for road infrastructure and enforcement.

Our Advocacy Approach

SGA advocates for road safety not just through awareness campaigns, but through structured engagement with government partners including the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on transport equity and policy alignment.
